About Vespera

Vespera publishes original erotic short fiction in Portuguese and English. Every story exists in both languages, is written for a six or seven minute read, and is free to read.

It is not an aggregator. Nothing here is copied, translated from somebody else, bought from a content bank, or republished from another site.

Who writes it

One person, publishing anonymously.

That is a stated choice rather than an omission. In erotic fiction anonymity is the historical norm of the genre, for reasons ranging from the writer's day job to the writer's family, and pretending otherwise would be less honest than saying this here.

What anonymity does not do is reduce responsibility. The rules below apply, and they apply in writing.

The rules every story meets

All characters are adults and imaginary. No exceptions, no ambiguity about age, no character described in a way that suggests otherwise. No story depicts a real person.

Nothing is gratuitously explicit. The scene exists, the text does not dodge it, and the text does not film it either. What matters here is the hour before and the hour after. Anyone looking for written pornography will find this site disappointing, and that is fine.

No story may read as machine-generated. This is the oldest rule in the project and the only one that became a process. Before anything is published, every story passes twenty-one objective checks — minimum length, variation in sentence length, no transition crutches, no breath clichés, no adverbs bolted onto speech verbs, keyword density below 1.2 per cent, and fifteen more. A story that fails is not published; it is rewritten or shelved.

Nothing is over-optimised. Each story targets one specific search, declared in the page's own code. Repeating that phrase through the body of the text is exactly what the density check prevents.

Every batch is reviewed against the ones before it. Not just each story on its own: the whole archive is compared for repeated patterns in openings, in endings and in titles. When a pattern shows up, the story is rewritten before it goes live, even if it passed everything else.

Adult content

This site is intended for readers aged 18 and over and shows an age confirmation on a first visit. If you manage a minor's access, use a content filter at the operating system or router level: the confirmation here is a declaration, not a control.

How the site pays for itself

Vespera sells no subscription, runs no banners, uses no pop-ups and collects no sign-ups.

At the end of each story there is a three-question quiz that suggests what to read next. At the end of that quiz, in the English edition, there is a partner link. If somebody signs up for a service from there, this site may earn a commission, and it changes the price for nobody.

It is the only source of revenue and it is stated on every page, in the footer.

Publishing rhythm

Stories come out in batches rather than one at a time, because the comparative review described above only works with a whole batch on the table. The archive is numbered in Roman numerals in the order it was written, and that numbering is never reused.

An RSS feed lists the most recent publications.
